Pubs, clubs and live music venues across Rushcliffe are set to benefit from a new 20% cut to business rates, as part of government plans to support the community spaces at the heart of local high streets.
The announcement will provide further support to more than 30,000 pubs, clubs and live music venues across England, helping them to manage costs and continue to serve as places where communities come together.
The government estimates that the measures will save the typical pub around £1,100 a year, helping to protect local jobs and to support the future of valued venues.
The announcement builds on existing support for pubs and live music venues, which has already included a 15% reduction in their new business rates bills and a freeze on bills in real terms for a further two years.

“Pubs, clubs and live music venues are at the heart of so many of our communities across Rushcliffe. They are not just places to enjoy a drink or a night out – they provide jobs, bring people together and help our villages and towns thrive.
“I regularly hear from local businesses about the pressures they face, from rising costs to keeping their doors open. This additional support will help ease some of that pressure and give community venues more breathing space.
“I’ll continue working with local businesses across Rushcliffe to understand the challenges they face and to make sure their voices are heard.”
The government says the changes will be fully funded, including through reviewing reliefs for businesses that do not make a positive contribution to local communities and by tackling businesses that avoid their tax obligations through online marketplaces.
The announcement is part of wider plans to support local communities, strengthen high streets and make the economy work better for working people.
