Rushcliffe voices represented during Net Zero Week in Parliament

Communities and businesses across Rushcliffe have been represented as part of national discussions about how the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future can deliver benefits locally.

Net Zero Week in Parliament (4th to 10th July 2026) provided an opportunity for MPs, businesses and industry associations to discuss practical solutions, innovations and the investment required to help communities and organisations adapt to a changing energy landscape, while ensuring the transition works for everyone.

During the week, James Naish MP hosted two events including a parliamentary drop-in session with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on ‘Hydrogen for a Net Zero UK: Building a Secure, Scalable and Resilient Hydrogen Economy’. The session brought together engineers, academics and industry representatives to discuss the potential role of hydrogen in improving energy security, supporting businesses and helping the UK meet its net zero ambitions. He also hosted a largely MP-focused discussion on the role of nuclear energy in the UK’s future energy mix.

The events in Parliament across Net Zero Week provided an opportunity for MPs to hear from experts, to share ideas and to look at opportunities and risks considered with the shift to a cleaner energy future.

James Naish, MP for Rushcliffe, said:

“People are particularly conscious about the climate given our current weather conditions. It’s one of the reasons why I believe decarbonisation remains an important government policy area. But it is vital that local people and businesses are at the heart of this conversation, and that the transition delivers economic opportunities for our area.

“Rushcliffe has a strong track record of innovation and enterprise when it comes to clean energy, and I will continue to champion our communities to ensure their voices are heard as we build a cleaner, more secure and prosperous future.”
